About
Hello, I'm Rob Grant, the designer and creator of The Shapers Rack. As someone with a passion for efficiency and a surfer, I found myself increasingly frustrated with the lack of versatile storage solutions for my surfboards and snowboard. Despite thorough research, I couldn't find a rack that met all my needs, so I decided to create one myself.
The journey of The Shapers Rack began while I was working on my house, eagerly awaiting a promising swell. This downtime allowed me to channel my passion for board sports and efficiency into designing a multifunctional shapers rack. My goal was to develop a product that could accommodate surfboards, snowboards, SUP equipment, and even windsurfing and kite surfing gear. The rack features a specially designed leg structure, allowing easy storage of larger boards and accessories, and provides a convenient setup for board repairs. I shared my CAD designs for The Shapers Rack with Mark Keup, who was impressed with the design. He showcased a custom-made mahogany rack at his Nor'easter Surf Shop in Scituate, Massachusetts, for a brief period at the beginning of summer 2024. Drawing from my background in invention, I thoroughly researched and realized that my rack was a unique solution for board sports enthusiasts. This led me to file a provisional patent with the USPTO. The original shapers rack was crafted from locally sourced pine, ensuring both quality and durability. Each piece is meticulously cut, and every screw is fastened by hand, guaranteeing a product that I stand behind with pride. The Shapers Rack is more than just a storage solution; it’s a testament to innovation driven by necessity. I’m excited to share this versatile and efficient rack with others who are passionate about managing their board sports equipment.
